On my three-week-old Deluxe, I just noticed that the right passenger footpeg has already become floppy -- won't stay in the up position. Seems the little spring between the bracket and peg has lost its tension.
I noticed this on my previous ride as well, an '08 Nightster.
What gives? Am I doing something wrong? I can count on one hand the number of times I've deployed the passenger peg on the new Deluxe.
Anything I can do, or is this just the way these things are?
Thanks for the replies. When I got it apart, I found the crappy little spring in two pieces. Replaced it with a thin washer. I really need to get some snap-ring pliers!
Same problem on my 08 Fat Boy. I tried the new spring washer and hardware, The best fix is to get the chrome bolt and nylock nut in the catalog. I think it was about $11.00 for the set and have not had a problem since.

Thats what I did for my 04 Heritage after wearing out a pair of snap ring pliers. Tightened the Bolt down and never had another problem ...
I agree w/ the bolt route. No more issues for me. I used a set of black oxide trumpet head bolts and black washers i had on hand. Couldn't find black nuts or acorns anywhere so I had to paint them.
