I have another "NOOBIE" question for you guys: how much heat do your pipes give off ? It seems like my chrome toolbox gets pretty warm.
The fartheset I've ridden with it so far has been about 20 miles, and right now I'm thinking that an hour long trip might come close to roasting some of my stuff. :-) But maybe the "20 mile heat" is about as hot as it's going to get?
Now, I did put on some SE II pipes and haven't had the remap done yet. Could that be making my pipes hotter than normal?
As always, thanks for the two cents!
P.S.
And to a related thread: the heat from the engine has never bothered my legs (I only ride in jeans +/- chaps depending on the weather).
I have left and right side boxes on mine and as you can see fromm the picture below the right is fairly close to the pipes. Been that way on this bike for at least four years and have not had a problem yet. Don't sweat the small stuff and ride. But ride safe.
