currently i ride 2005 1200C as it is my first ever bike. It is time to change and upgrade ... I'm considering the three mentioned bike in the title !!
I need a bike that i can use to move in town (do some simple customization to look nice and stylish) and might have 1 or 2 tours a year ...
could you expert guys help me taking my decision !!
appreciate your input ...
ohh forget to ask too, what is the major difference between fatboy 08 & 09 ? as our local dealer still got a new 08 and would offer some discount on it !!
Well I got a rocker ...and I wouldn't want to go on any tour with it lol.....Road King is an awesome bike and good for around town and long hauls....fat boy good on both as well I would think....but I'd get a road king....awesome bike....I was struggling real hard with my decision between the RK and Rocker....I will get the RK one day!!!!
love my rocker but will go deluxe next time, just coz its a bit hard after a couple of hundred km's... hmm so my 2 cents out of your choices, go a fatty...
Holy conflicting styles Batman ! If you have ANY amount of touring planned, I'd stay away from the Rocker. They're awesome bikes, but I can't imagine touring on one. Road King or Fat Boy.... both are awesome. The Fat Boy with a windshield and a set of nice bags can be as efficient a tourer as a Road King and look awesome doing it. So I'd have to ask... do you prefer the rubber mounted motor of the Road King, or the rigid mounted counter balanced motor of the Fat Boy ?

to be honest with u, the really two options im looking into are the fatboy & RK but included the Rocker here just to be sure it wont be suitable for me ...
I'm not too technical, I thought two models are rubber mounted !! Can u plz expain how these two types affect the riding experience ?

Well,.... I have owned 4 new Harleys in the past few years 1st being an 06 Dyna Superglide, 2nd being my 07 Ultra Classic, 3rd an 07 1200C, and 4th and newest is an 09 Fatboy. I still have my 07 Ultra Classic and the 09 Fatboy,.... and quite honestly,..... It would be very hard to part with either one. From my experience with touring, dyna, sportster, and softails,... I would have to say that the Fatboy would be the bike that would best fit what "your" looking for. It has cool looks, and there are tons of assessories for it and add a quick detach windshield and some quick detach saddlebags you have a very capable and comfortable tourer as well. Best of all,... you can easily remove all that stuff and you can have the cool look again as well.
Out of the three you mentioned, you might want to consider an '09 Road King. Harley did a nice job making an already good bike better with the '09 changes they made.
If you're looking to stay in the Softail family, for what you described, the Fatboy is good but a Heritage might be a little better. It's already got all the touring addon built in. If you don't care for all the studs on the bags and seat, the Deluxe is another way to go. It's basically a lowered Heritage and I personally feel it's got a little more style to it for those bike night outings in stock form. Just be aware, the white walls are a pain to keep clean and they get dirty pretty fast....Good luck.
I'm a fan of both the RK, and the Fat Boy, hence the fact I bought the Fat Boy. After having ridden a Sporty for a year and a half, the Fat Boy is a major comfort improvement. Like was already said, add a windshield, so bags, and you are set.
