Default Power Commander 5 on an '09 FatBoy....

I'm told it might be a pain in the butt mounting the Power Commander 5 in the '09 Fatboy's. Does anyone have any experience or pictures regarding this matter? I haven't bought one YET, but was just about to, so if anyone wants to stop me, please feel free to do so...... Thanks, JR

I have had power commanders, fuel paks, etc. I ended up going with a race tuner with a canned stage 1 download. I have an 09 Cross bones with se air filter. The bike runs suprisingly strong, with no decell pop.

I don't have the fatboy, I have the heritage softail, so the seat is a little different, but my PC V fit right under the seat.

The PC V is about 1/3 of the size of the PC III, so you should not really have any trouble fitting it on your bike. Somewhere under your seat, on or around the battery there will be enough space for the PC V unless you have a bunch of other things there. From what I have been able to find this is what it should look like:

By moving a few pieces around it is supposed to fit no problem

Hey thanks, I spoke with Jamie at Fuel-Moto, and even HE had some concerns.

I see you don't have a stock seat, so that's what I would look at first.... I have a corbin on my deluxe and there is 0 clearance under there for anything....so I know I have to go with a SERT, Mastertune or actually I'm looking going the Thundermax route...more options there. I just put on the same pipes as yours though :-)

Been there, done that on my 08 Fat Boy. It WONT fit. I switched it for the Thundermax with Auto Tune and could not be happier. The problem lies in the area of the ECM and plugs.

Thanks alot..... do you have any pics of your Thundermax installed? If so, could you share them? I realize it's extra $$$, but I'm in too deep now to turn back. Thanks, JR

2 things, though your info is probably correct, the PC V is only for 2009 models, though I think it can be retro mapped for 08. 08 model would need a PC III normally and that would then be mounted between behind the mud guard of the rear fender

I would expect that the PC V should be mountable in the PC III softail spot of behind the mug guard of the rear fender too. so I do not think that it should be an issue really to mount a PC V on a softail based bike.

true its not an easy place to get to it and install it in
