Slip On Muffler Debate
Called my dealer about Slip On Mufflers. Of course they want to add a fuel pak by cobra for $285.00. all I want to do is make my bike a little louder. i've asked 10 different people and got 10 different answers. Can't I just put the Vance and Hines Straight Shots on without any extra bullcrap added. I'm a simple man who likes to ride his bike. Can I put the damn things(V&H Slip Ons) on and GO or do I have to go thru a bunch of bullsh** just to make my ride a little louder?
IMHO you can do whatever you want to the exhaust without having to do the Fuel Pak/Dyno thing. When you mess with intake system, like change the filter and intake tract, coupled with new pipes/mufflers you get into problems. You can put different slip ons on the bike as long as you haven't messed with the intake system

+1 you're fine just changing out the pipes.
However you'll get a much cooler bike if you do the air and fuel pak too.
Put'em on and ride!! haha
You will have no problems. You may have a BIT of back fire, but overall, nothing to worry about. Don't let the dealer try and sell you useless sh&t. They aren't there for your best interest, they are there to make a sale!! They TRIED to sell me SE 3's when I wanted Rush!! >
Trust us buddies on the Forum!! We have all been where you are.
Also, put the damn things on yourself. Don't pay the stealer to put them on for you. It is SO EASY!!
Good luck and keep us posted.
+1 on just changing your pipes. I had Rushs on for a year with no fuel managment and no problems. IMO Only time you have to do fuel managment is when you do A/C and pipes or a full exhaust system.
If you are just doing slip-ons you will have no problems and no need for any PC or such. If you go to a full exhaust or aftermarket air cleaner and such than you need to start thinking about the PC.
