Default Seat Post/Coil Mount Removal - Is it safe?

Okay I searched on this topic and did not find that much so I will start a new one. I have already taken everything off my 06 FLST and I love the bare clean look of it. I have read about guys removing their seat post/coil mount and this looks killer. Is this safe to do? I only ask after dealing with EVO frames for so long that use that seat post as a permanent part of the frame.

Seat post is stamped metal and is there for looks and to attach your coil. If your relocating your coil and don't like the look of the 'fake' seat post take it off. no harm.

I was amazed at how crappy the seat post was once I got it out. Pull it and chunk it, you'll never miss it.

That is funny. What a waste of material and parts.

The idea of a softail is to give it a hardtail look, which included the seat post. I agree it looks better with out, but I think its a matter of personal preference more than anything.

There is no 'structural' reason for the seat post now, other than a place to support you coil.
