Sitting out at a local radio station's party yesterday with hundreds of bikes---a guy walks up to me and said that my Hog was chosen as being the cleanest to go up against the one chopper that was chosen for being the cleanest. So we park them up front and the judges go over them with a fine tooth comb. And the result was a first place trophy for me. I'm glad I wiped it down that morning and thank God for a garage.
Yes; nice to be recognized especially by the group of guys who I use to ride with. These guys who judged were my old crotch rocket buddies and let me share something with you guys. They don't talk trash about me riding a Harley. They all want one; they just haven't gotten to that stage in their life where they are ready to give up the speed or to afford one. According to them-----our whitewalls on the deluxe is eye catching.
That's one sweet bike! I'm wondering what changes you added from the day you purchased your bike. It looks like you may have lowered the bike, did you? I am days away from ordering a new HD steelpony!!! I am between a 2005 softail springer classic and or one exactly like your's. I know it all comes down to the hearts desire. Can you share any information about your style and the classic springer. I currently have a really nice Triumph T100 bonnieville and have owned a 650 R BMW. I will most likely not do to many road trips at long distances but one never knows. I live in the mountains of South eastern Colorado, so we have lots of nice two lane roads in the mountains without tomuch traffic.
steelpony, I didn't lower the bike. I've only done cosmetic stuff to it so far along with the V&H BS Staggered, Stage 1, and PC.
oh....I had the seat reworked for $80...put me down and back an inch.
I'm 5'11" and it has enough room for me. I don't do long distance riding; but I have ridden it for a few hours at a time. I don't know about everyone elso; but here is what I notice. Even the guys who have the R-Kings have rear ends that can tell that they've been riding for hours. Maybe it just takes a while for them to get to that point. I really like the springer also. I want those bags off of it; which I will do one day. I just came off of crotch rockets; so this is a new style of riding for me. I don't have enough experience to really speak on the other models.
I do know this-----------I get a lot of compliments on the white walls and profiled rims. Most non harley owners think I put them on myself.....and I let them think it
I say, ride them both. I rode the Deluxe and RK Classic. I liked the RK ride better; but the Deluxe caught my eye first and it regained my eye in the end. I like the stripped down sportier look.
