I'm thinking of adding the H-D kit to convert the rear turn signals to function as running lights and brake lights as well as turn signals. The H-D site says it plugs into the wiring harness. My question is where in the harness does it plug in, ie; under the seat, under the tank, or in the tail lamp area?
Under the seat, plugs into wiring harness. Just installed another make run, turn, brake module with LED's and get comments on it. If you want to add some incredible LED's - get Street Magic Genesis. Also, the Badlands module works best with LED's because it runs the lights at about 30% until brakes are on, then 100% and has the LED load equalizer built in and does not get hot like other equalizers. The Badlands unit makes a better contrast between run light and brake light for LED's. If you leave the light bulbs a standard filament then not a big deal.
Under the seat. Be warned, I had one of these and it died after about a year rendering my brake light useless until I took it off. My other concern with this is that the signals will be so bright that cars may have trouble differentiating between you brake light and running light. Just my .02 here.
Does anyone know where I can get an older model of this tail light mod? From a few years ago there was a model which did not include running lights. That is, the turn signals were only adding the brake lights and not the running lights. A couple of my friends have this older module. I have not been able to find it on eBay.

This is it here. turns the turn signals into brake lights, but doesnt make them into running lights.
I'm curious why you would NOT want them to be running lights though. One single tail light at night can easily appear to be
the left or right taillight on a car AHEAD of the car in front of you if visibility is poor due to fog or rain.
Much harder to make a mistake like that with 3 taillights
Thanks! Well, I guess it's a trade-off. I see your point about additional running lights which is good. But you lose some of the attention-getting ability of going from no light to brake light on the turn signals which is more noticeable than going from running light to brake light. I'm not sure which is the "safer" method.

If you want attention getting, I have the Kuryakyn Panacea kit.
All lights are LED and all 3 on as running lights at all times.
They get a lot brighter when brakes are applied (no confusion there), plus they also flash 3 times before going on steady.
The flash is optional. You can turn this feature off if you dont like it.
They are highly visible (day or night), and with the they absolutely get your attention when you hit the brakes.
I have installed the HD module which you're asking about. Right now I'm on my second one, be careful on where you put it, I thought I was safe on the seat's clearance, turned out they are made (injected) out of crappy nylon which cracks easily. Find a secure spot and you're god to go, it works great for me.
I have the HD module kit. Best money I have spent. Easy to install and works great on my bike. Under the seat and about 10 minutes to install.
No troubles so far in 3 years.
You cant have enough light on the back end.
