the deuce was on the rite track.. they should of used a regular Harley fender/light, and a tank that didn't require rolling the seat up to fit.it is like they planed on making a stretched bike, then realized it required a longer frame, but still forced the idea through after it didn't work.. as bad as it looked, i cant figure out for the life of me why they discontinued it to build a rocker..
in retrospect looking at a picture now and thinking about the horrible designs the MOCO is sending out lately.. the Deuce looks pretty good. too bad they didn't add 3" to the backbone so the seat and tank could play nice together..

True that. Plus lower it about 2" in the rear and bInGo !
Love the tank on the Deuce. Always liked the SE Deuces like Harleycharlie's. Make mine Cobalt Blue and Black. If they weren't so freakin $$$$$$ (STILL!). Prefer the BSS for exhaust, tho.
I never liked it from the beginning...the tank was too long in proportion to the rest of it, the breakover tank-seat angle was too drastic, the rear wheel was cheesy & should've had a 16, nothing from the catalog would fit it, and of course...that ghastly rear fender!

Too be fair--it did have a beautiful front end.
Let's be honest dickey it must be a hard job for Harley's to get a bike just right, and none of us are happy that's why the company make a fortune selling everything from handlebar grips to tanks to fenders and every thing in between, they no doubt make more on that stuff than the actual bikes.
Tank too long?!?? It's the best tank on a Harley... Seat and tank don't play nice together??! Don't understand that... My seat and tank flow nicely... We all have different tastes obviously but here is my experience when buying a deuce...
Walk into a dealer "do u have a deuce in stock?" dealer replies " no we got one the other day and it sold the same day, you pretty much need to order one to get one" I found ONE on a showroom floor in a couple yrs of looking at Harley's before I was ready to purchase.... So either they didn't make enough or they sold like hot cakes... That was my experience... I ended up buying used on eBay in 09 cause that's the only style I wanted... I lucked out getting an 07 which was lowered an inch from the factory compared to all other yr models of the deuce and has the 96" engine... The earlier models def need lowered to look good...
The only things I agree on with the dislikes of the deuce is the rear fender could be better. Not a bobtail but better than what they put on it. And the rear wheek is fugly(hence why i spent 3k on a wheek set lol, which made the rear fender much more livable with a nice chrome wheel tucked in there)I think a mix of the rocker and deuce would make the perfect bike. Or basically the rocker without that ridiculous diving board passenger seat lol... They shoulda kept te same console on the tank, smooth chrome forks and 21" wheel on the rocker IMO...
Basically like any bike, the deuce needed work straight outta the showroom to be perfect in my eyes... Why they stopped selling them??? Who knows... Other than to bring out the rocker...

I agree that the Rocker passenger seat is fugly, but it's also a pretty clever piece of engineering if the goals are the following:
A rear fender mounted to the swingarm (so there is little gap between the fender and tire), rather than having the fender mounted to the frame with enough of a gap to allow full suspension travel.
Coverts between a two-up and a solo seat in about 15 seconds.
Stores all the passenger seat components under the driver seat.
Avoids having the passenger seat mounted to the fender, which follows every irregularity in the road....... and would basically be like riding a rigid frame bike.
