Considering a Trade...Need Input
You can set up a Softail to tour. You can add bags, seats, bars, windshields, GPS, XM, and every other convenience that a bagger has. But what you can't do is change the fact that it's gonna ride and steer like a Softail.
I'm thinking of trading in my 2005 Ultra Classic on a 2008 Softail Custom with 4K miles. I prefer the styling and lighter weight of the Custom over the Ultra. Also, the Softail has the TC96 motor. If you've ever moved from a bagger to a Softail, I'd like to know your thoughts. Any regrets?
Some people rarely ride more than 200 miles in a day and others are just getting started at 200 miles.
I've gone on overnight bike runs on my Softy and with a detachable sissy bar it's a piece of cake to pack everything I need. Didn't even use saddlebags but I have them if I need to. If the Softy was my only bike I'd have a nice (detachable) set of big saddlebags and a big ole' windshield. Maybe even a batwing which are available for all Softails now.
The guy asks a question about going from a tourer to a softail. His thread is hijacked by a couple people. Someone else reminds them about the original posters question and the same couple people keep at it. Go start your own friggin know it all thread and impress the sh*t out of each other. Dam!
