You can set up a Softail to tour. You can add bags, seats, bars, windshields, GPS, XM, and every other convenience that a bagger has. But what you can't do is change the fact that it's gonna ride and steer like a Softail.

Geoff: I have both and hands down the Softail is more fun to ride than the bagger. Still; on rides over 200 miles I'd rather be on the bagger. So I guess it all depends on what kind of riding you do.

Some people rarely ride more than 200 miles in a day and others are just getting started at 200 miles.

I've gone on overnight bike runs on my Softy and with a detachable sissy bar it's a piece of cake to pack everything I need. Didn't even use saddlebags but I have them if I need to. If the Softy was my only bike I'd have a nice (detachable) set of big saddlebags and a big ole' windshield. Maybe even a batwing which are available for all Softails now.
