Default Newb needs help and fast...

Ok so I have decided to bite the bullet and try and move the coil myself. I am pretty handy but here is my -problem even before I really got started.

how in the hell do you remove the fuel line?

Those clamps are like nothing I have seen before, I used to work on my old Chevy back in the day,and all that thing had on it was the screw type hose clamps. So besides relocating the turn signals and replacing the nacelle and headlamp bucket this will be the first real work on the bike I have done,

These clamps seem to be some kind of locking never to remove again clamps. Outside of cutting the hose itself (which would be really bad) I can not see any way to get them off, and idea's?

I have an '02 fatboy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe they are indeed considered single use clips. Just pry them open with a screw driver and needle nose. Replace with regular hose clamps. Well that's what I do. There's a tool for them but who has one handy? A little cursing while you battle with them helps. Do not cut the hose. You will still need to get the clip off to get a new hose on.

If the bike has a carb its just a simple gravity feed no pressure fuel line that you can cut off and replace with the old Chevy system you know so well.
If its got EFI try pushing up on the hose with one hand then lift up on the chrome collar at the fitting. Then you can pull down on the hose and it will come out like a good old fashioned air hose coupling.

One tip, before you disconnect an EFI fuel line take the seat off and pull the fuel pump fuse. Then turn the engine on and try to start it. That will depressurize the line and prevent you from getting a face full of gas.
