now i am confused. so you are sayin that it is possible to eliminate the idle cable and just run the throttle cable, i just ordered a set of 16in apes and all the cables as a package, but would love to have the cables cleaned up.

Yes...

EDIT: Make sure your throttle cable is a quality one. I had problems with running just a throttle cable. The spring on the TB wasn't strong enough to close the butterfly due to crappy cable construction

Streamline design makes an internal throttle setup that has a spring loaded return built in. You only run the one cable through the bars, but it has the same functionality as dual cable. Of course, as with most internal throttle set-ups, you have to cut a certain amount off the end of the throttle side of the bars...

A member of my HOG group broke a cable yesterday. So it does happen. Personally I have never had one break in damn near 45 years of riding.
