Hey guys, I just got my labriola kit on Friday and I got everything ready to go except the last part, go figure. I can't figure out for the life of me how the "ear" part goes. If I set it up so the ear faces down and when the clutch is depressed it pulls the cable back towards the primary, the clutch lever doesn't align on the splines. If I put the ear up top, when it depress the clutch, it will actually just brush past the foot peg perch and it gouged the paint off. Please help! Idk how to post pics yet or I would have. Btw I have a 2009 night train.

Drain it. It doesn not need to be hot. I drained mine into a clean container and reused it.

Do you have a service manual? It would walk you through installing a clutch cable. Also Google is your friend instead of resurrecting a 9 month old thread. You would have your answer sooner.

And when you google it you'll find a 9 month old thread on HDForums. It's not a problem to open an old Thread when your asking a question.

I agree. Reopening old threads is fine. At least make your question pertinent to the thread. He was asking a question about installing a clutch cable in a 9 month old thread about Jockey shift installation.

I was trying to offer him alternative ways of helping himself; the service manual or Google. Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for life.

Yes, a Google search may pull up 9 month old threads but, in his case, one about a Jockey shift install won't be included.

Google "how to install a labriola jockey shift" this is the first thread that comes up and i read it from page one. And no mention was made about draining your oil. only toping it up. Now however this database refrence is more complete for future people interested on the topic when they google it.
nine months or not its obviously still current info as my labriola is on the way.
Its not like i bumped a topic regarding if we should or shouldnt impeech bill clinton for cigar ****in a fat chick in the oval office.

My response was based upon the information you provided. Reread your first post today and it simply inquires about installing a new clutch cable. There is no mention whatsoever that you are inquiring about the cable for the Labriola kit. Nonetheless, installing a clutch cable is the same whether installing a standard cable, a Diamondback braided cable, a Magnum Chromite cable or a cable from a Labriola jockey shifter kit.

The reason no prior posts mention that you should drain the tranny fluid first is because they either know to do so, they referred to the service manual or they obtained the information elsewhere, say Google.

Anyway, enjoy your shifter.

Come on Doc, admit you jumped the gun and made a mistake. He was asking a question on a Labriola thread. That should have clued you in to the fact that he was installing a cable for a Labriola kit....................Good day.
