Default Softail EFI MAP question

Maybe this is a dumb question, but can you buy the software and computer cable to re-MAP the stock EFI? I would like to do this myself rather than take it to the dealer after i put pipes on my 08 FXSTC. I have looked on the internet and cant find anything for the average person to re-MAP the stock system. I have found all the Power Commander or Thunder Max new systems but why not just use the stock one. Thanks in advance for any help!

If all you're doing is pipes, I don't think you need to re-map. But, if you change air intake, and pipes, you need to re-map.

Thanks for the info. You may be correct because all of the maps that i have seen so far have the brand of pipe and the air intake listed. Thanks again

u'll probably loose some low end torque since the engine exhaust is not as restricted with the stock pipes, but from what i've read this shouldn't harm the engine...beaureed445 is right, if u change the a/c the ratio between air and fuel needs to be changed, and this is done by a re-map, or piggy back like power commander, or replace the ecu...the tmax with auto-tune uses wide-band o2 sensors instead of narrow-band like the stock ecu...i think there's a version of power command that also has wide-band sensors...many people use the sert and are happy with it...

Yes, it was called the SE Race Tuner (SERT )now its made for HD by another company and I think its called the Pro Tuner , its listed in the ES Catalog. Cmes with a cable and software to allow you access to your ecm as well as some canned MAPS.

Default I don't think so

I think he was looking for a Cheap way to remap the stock unit. Free stuff, cheap cable. I could be wrong but that doesn't look cheap at all. Our local dealer is running that complete install and dyno for under 600 bucks. You get to keep the Race tuner, but of course no cable or software. Figures!
