I was planning the same thing this winter. I think if I get rid of the pegs and replace the springs with those "clothes pin" looking springs, it might cut down on a lot of that empty space.
Yeah, there is just this void and i think it kinda throws the look off a bit. I was thinking of giving the scissor pins a shot also.
That is a great looking bike. How do you like the wood inlay floor boards? Do they look like they will hold up to the scuffing your feet will give them?
I think once i get some clear coat on them they'll be fine. The wood is only a thin sheet good glued to the frame of the shaker board so if need be i would be a piece of cake to replace.
Hey RNBONES
I thought the same thing about the gap between the seat and the fender when you move to a STF fender. Here is what I did, and I love the way it turned out. It is low and it filled in the gap nicely. I have been riding it with no fender while I am still working to clean it up for paint, and I sit so close to the tire that I can feel it grab my shirt tale.
Here are a couple of pics, I have since gone to the 3" hairpin springs instead of coils.

You removed the pins? What is holding the springs in place?
