What screw are you referring to? There is no screw - there's a threaded hole for one tho, but its behind the leather and a lot of double stick goo.

I was assuming there is a screw that goes through the bar and into the pad. Maybe I'm wrong. I figured that if the small chrome medallion is off it would be exposed. If there is no screw in there how does the pad come off? Sure hate to tear up anything that doesn't need to be torn up.

The backrest medallion (brown leather part on the back of the backrest) is entirely held on with double stick tape. There is no screw! The metal centerpiece that holds the tassel is held on to that leather with little metal/plastic spikes if i recall correctly, but I dont think you can pry it off the leather without damaging one or both. I wanted the flying skull backrest medallion, so it didnt matter to me, I just took the whole medallion off with a blowdryer and a sharpened wood paint stick.

I sure do appreciate the help with this but I think we're still missing something. After the leather panel and medalion are off what is holding the backrest pad onto the bar? The two screws and bracket aren't all that's doing it.

Oh, you want to take the backrest pad off. (I just re-read your post) I thought you wanted to take the medallion off. Taking the medallion off doesnt interfere with the backrest pad. I dunno what holds the pad on, and my bike is in storage now, so I cant go back and look. I'm not sure if its required to take the medallion off in order to take the backrest pad off, but wouldnt be surprised.

Honestly it should be just a screw(s). Take a pic unless you have figured it out already.
