There is one more way to look at this. Most of us have more money in our bikes than they are worth. We buy them in nice or new condition then start removing perfectly good parts and replacing them with ones we like better to make it "special." He may well wind up with more in this bike than it will be worth, but it will be his and the way he likes it. I guess the saying "time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time" could be modified to justify these bikes for all of us.
U have a lot to learn, saying U thought its worth 14k,,,, tells me u need to learn a lot before buying a wrecked one and fixing it up about the worth of them now that the economy has went south...
As other said be careful or U'll end up in a mess.....
If you need some bags for it if you get it, let me know. I personally would pass on the bike and look for a deal this winter. I bet you could find a great bike for around 8K in this economy.
Economics and mechanics are interdepent? Repairing or rebuilding a Harley is not rocket science, well it may be for you.
The guy either wants to build a Harley or he does not have enough cash to buy new one. Maybe, he is smarter than the rest of us and not flushing 20K down the drain.
Whatever his reason is, be happy for the guy, he got his Harley.

An 03 HD clean title for 3 grand (and he said less than 3k) in the wrong hands (a thief) is a super score, even up to 5 grand. The clean title is the key. Period. He got a good deal buying to fix for himself. Period

I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU PAID 14K FOR THAT!!!!!! Just kidding, 3k is a great buy. The guys saying 1-2 grand are dreaming, there is NOTHING out there for that kind of money. Make it look and run nice and it will be a great bike for you.
