Glad you got it picked up. I understand about living in areas where you cant work on stuff. Check on ebay for the parts you need, they are pretty cheap, used. Will your complex allow you to have an enclosed trailer? I have friend who does most of his work and storage inside of one.
Working on a Harley is really easy, tuning it is not hard, just a little studying.
Enjoy it and have fun. You should go on some poker runs or rides, to meet other owners. Most people enjoy helping a buddy out.
I think you paid about the going price for a salvage 03 Harley... Keep in mind that the paper work that you received from the auction is the most important factor in determining the worth of the bike after it is rebuilt. If it has a clean title it is worth more than if it has a salvage or rebuilt title... however keep in mind that if there was an accident or incident report filed it will be picked up by "carfax" and will show that the bike was involved in an accident so you are only free and clear if the person buying the vehicle does not do the research on the title. If it is a salvage or rebuilt title it will be written on the face of the title and seems to diminish the bike's value even though the rebuild is probably better than the factory build to start with. Most all of the bikes that I rebuild are rebuilt with more stringent specs than the factory and run better and last longer than the factory bikes... Good luck, it's a turkey shoot!
talked to the mechanic on a bad connection. he says that the bike is running and that the only damage was cosmetic. i can take the bike as is or shop for the cylinder and heads and stuff.
but it does need new handle bars and other minor stuff.
