lose the saddle bags and blinkers, i wouldnt spend money to replace them. Fork tins are cheap on ebay, think you ca get new chrome ones for around 100. you can get used bars and grips for next to noghing on ebay. I'd have that bike on the road for $1000. who cares if it is salvaged or what ot has been through. Fx it right, ride it safe and enjoy it. Just dont expect to sell it and make $10k. You got in cheap, just ride it and have fun
my update for today is that my mech got a oil can and lever. we are watching one engine item on ebay. but i'm still trying to learn different terms and what is compatible with the bike so i can search for the correct parts.
I'm also searching my local craigslist ads.
ebay is good but i live in hawaii so shipping is sometimes outragous...
i put a few threads around the forums as not to go off topic on this thread.
my fear is buying with out knowing and wasting money on parts i don't need.
so besides the heads and jugs i have to go research handle bars, grips, floor boards, tins, and signals.
i'm going to remove the bags after a while and see if i can buff the fender brackets. I'm going to try and visit the bike later this week and see it start.
micahpop,
I have the cylinders and pistons from an 02 night train that was upgraded from an 88 to a 95 before it left the showroom. These parts only have the test miles put on by the factory, so they are essentially new. If you're interested in them, let me know. They are sitting in the boxes my Screamin Eagle parts came in, inside the heated basement as they have been for 9 years now. I take them out and look them over every once in a while and they're still in pristine condition. Let me know.

I have a set of stock bars for that bike also. If you want them, they are yours, just pay the shipping .Make a list of what you need. I may have one or two fender struts you can have also. They are brand new. Let me know.

Is your bike fuel injected or carbed? it makes a little bit of a difference in the tins. you can get an adaptor from the dealer to use if you get the wrong kind, but it is easier if you get the ones that match your fuel system. I know an 00-04 tank set will fit, but I would start a new thread, to ask.
Lots of guys on here have put forward control sets on thier bikes, I would put an ad in the WTB section, or look on ebay for a complete take offset of lower controls.
I put Custom Chrome brand hand controls on my bike, 4 years ago, and have no complaints. they are cheap and look good, around $150 complete, except the grips.
Last thing, look for a set of 06 or later heads, they flow better and have no seal problems.

Bud, the floorboards will interchange with just about any stock Harley touring or Softail. The years range from ... crap early 90's all the way up to now. Is this bike EFI? If so, check the bottom of the tank, and see if you have one or two lines coming from it. I can't remember if it still has the older injection system. If it has one hole, I have a tank here that has a small dinger in it,that would be easy to fix. Hell, I'd paint it black for you too. You gonna keep the stock color or just go black. Cause you know what they say.
