Has anybody removed the paint protector on their fender to run a 1up seat, and then switch back to 2up on occasion. I was curious if their paint got marked up after the 2up seat was on?
I did it on my FXST. I made sure that my 2-up seat had a nice protective coating on the bottom, so the paint didn't get scratched. I glued felt to the bottom of the seat.
You can get felt at most crafts stores such as Michael's. If you run a solo it looks much better without the plastic sticker on there. Another solution is to get a fender bib and leave that on when you put the 2 up seat back on.
Thanks for the input. I don't much care for the stock seat on this bike. On my 07 I ran the stock solo with a fender bib, so I am either gonna find an 07-10 stock Fatboy seat or by an aftermarket solo and take off the plastic. I bought a Badlander 2up for the Lo and did the same thing with the felt where it hit the fender in different spots.
I was thinking the same thing, I want to run it solo, and need a fender bib, there's one in the 2010 hd parts catalog but I'm not sure if its wide enough to cover the static protective covering, and I really don't want to take it off, its kind of plain, the cost is 69.95 and but it is leather. though.

I ride solo 90% of the time. For the rare occasions when I do use the passenger seat, I bought a roll of protective film tape and lay down strips of it under any areas where the seat might touch the fender. Just peel off and throw away when done. Had to buy two rolls (minimum order quantity) -- more than I'll ever need, for about $40 I think it was. Kind of a pain the first couple of times, but it's simple now that I have it figured out.
I would say without protection on the fender of some kind its going to at least fuzzy dull the paint where the 2up seat hits the fender even with felt, but shouldn't scratch it
