Default Baffles????

WHat is the main reason behind them?
I know they mellow the sound... add back pressure.. etc..

I have seen pipes as advertised
baffless...

Is it bad to be baffless?
I had 2 in my duals...
The cones up near the middle and the thundermonsters at the end...
I took them both out and love the sound...
being that they are long pipes.. is it...
"OK" to be without baffles if the bike runs good?
I am not hunting for horse power..
I did put long bolts in and the end of my pipes to hold the tips in..... does that count?

Baffles or not... need to tune the engine to either way.

Running with out baffles is not good for the motor, Doc talked about about what it dose to the motor. Look up his threds and see if you can find it. You are probley loseing a little power with no back presure. Over time you can burn vaulve and so on.You can buy diffrent baffles to get better sound.

Yes,the long bolt trick works wonders,we did that to drag pipes to create some backpresure and stop the lean pop.We would only drill a hole on the bottom of the pipe so it did not ruin the looks.

Are you referring to a bolt (about 1/4-20) that would be placed in the end of the exhaust tip? I saw an article on this some time ago and the claim is that it really works....even with baffles in place.

well, the bike already had an after market exhaust... hi flow ac and ran great... Buying the bike used, I will assume, since it runs very good, that it has been jetted correctly.
So i just put on true duals... i have about 1 1/2 inch bolts in there now....will probably get some that go all the way through the pipe...

I did near 400 miles today... it ran awesome... roughly 39mpg... no decel pop...
Imma leave it for awhile... but i think i like it...

Thanks for the replies!!!!

The bolt in the pipe trick is also known as "lolli pops" Someone did a great post on how to make them for really cheap. My first hand experience is that no baffles, torque cones, or anything else yields far less low end torque. If you are going to go without baffles add torque cones and lollipops and you should be okay.
