#3. I live in a state where we are required to wear one. I live a few miles from the border where I am not, but always do. Have I once in a while rode in FL and felt the need to let my hair blow, yes. I agree, it is about choice and not force.

Being the sister of a brother that is alive today with NO head injury because over 20 years ago he was wearing a helmet (has two plates in his back, was paralyzed in the left leg, still has no feeling in parts, and is now a marathon runner), I have no problem if you decide not to wear one, agree it should be a choice, but don't say you are going to die anyway, or the statistics show you are no safer. And, don't assume people wear one because they are scared or sissies...I thought we were talking about choice?

I ride with a 1/2 helmet, cause I'm trying to save what hair I have left. Plus, NYS is watching.

I live in Pa where it is not required to wear a helmet after getting ur license. At first I did not wear a helmet, thinking I was badass . Now
everytime I get on the bike I do put on a helmet 1/2 face bell dot, but sometimes I do put on my jockey non-Dot. It sure does help when you have the wife always on me to put on the helmet. Like I say I am all for people making there own choices.

I still don't understand why states that require seat belts don't require helmets. It's just common sense to make it required if seat belts are required.

I wear one for warmth on cold mornings and if conditions are slippery for possible slow speed tip overs. Won't do much good at high speed anyway. I wouldn't want my "head" to survive if the rest of me didn't!

I used to wear a Bell Drifter but it's so ugly and even worse tried to fly off my head so bad at speed that I just quit wearing it. I'm thinking about picking up an ACC novelty mostly for protection from the wicked Sun here in FL. I do have a full face I'll wear if it's cold enough.

A cousin of mine died back in the late sixties in a wreck. He was wearig a helmet and it crushed his brainstem. It was a real freak accident and they have come a long way since then. When I ride into Idaho or Montana I sometimes take it off but usually just keep it on.
