I usually blast up our hiways bout 140 or 86ish. Bike runs real smooth at that. That's bout as fast as I go cause I gots no windshield and rocks off trucks hurt a bit...And lets face it it's hard to look cool with tears in your eyes...lol

Love the twisties at 45 to 65 much more than cruising the Interstate at 85. JMTC

Cruise at 80 to 85 no issues so far. I think the RPM's are low enough not to have a motor issue. I commute everyday. 50 miles. for past two years. Let er rip.

Curious, I am new to Harley and was wondering if cruising at higher speeds is hard on the motor? Also I know 70mph is the speed limit but i also don't come to a complete stop all the time at stop signs with my car if you know what i mean!

First of all, I dig your avatar. She's so frickin HOT!
Oh, the bike...
I like to cruise at 75+ on the open hwy but my 02 Heritage seemed to run a little high on the RPM's. I ended up changing by primary gear. I went up one tooth. It really made a difference on the cruising RPM's and absolutely no noticeable change on torque.
Good luck Bud.

Sounds good. I actually have friends on the island so I know they would join. Greenport for lunch is nice too, as long as you are prepared to lay out some cash...lol.

Claudio's is a great ride... We usually take Sunrise Hwy into the Hamptons, then take Rt.114 over to the Shelter Island Ferry, ride a round the Island a bit, then take the north ferry over to Greenport and veg at Claudio's for a while.

The 99 FLHT will cruise at 80+ all day and the 07 NT will do the same thing but just not near as comfortably.

The touring bikes are geared higher for highway touring (obviously). At least my 99 is. I do like the 6 speed on the NT and wish I had it on the 99. Maybe someday.
