I'm attempting to install a HD Mini-tach on my 02 Softail Standard. The instructions state that I need to splice into the "speedometer lead". Which one is the lead? Is it the Vehicle Speed Signal wire, or the Speed Sensor Power wire, or the Output Speed wire? These all came from my Wiring diagrams in the Service Manual.
Heh, I opened the attachment thinking I was gonna see the instructions... :/
Leads are usually referring to the power wire. In this case, probably RED (as I think mine is) that gives the speedometer power when the ignition is turned to ON.
Hint: To make a good guess, always look further into the process and see where it leads you (no pun intended), which you probably read to connect the tach power wire to the specified "lead" wire.
There is a pink wire in the harness that does not connect to anything you have to look hard because it is under some tape and the outer cover of the harness. Its there I found it when I rewired mine.
