Well, I've had a week to get a few short rides in on the new set up and thought I would post my initial thoughts.
First off, they are taller than I expected. I have ridden my buddies RK with 16" apes and due to the lower sitting position of the softail frame, I definately feel the difference. I pulled the bars back from the initial position about an inch or two. That improved the comfort level. Getting used to my mirrors mounted under the bars will take some time but I love the look. The handling of the bike is great and I am extremely pleased with this mod. I am 6' tall and my hands are just above shoulder height. I haven't rode too many miles so I can't speak to numb hands or anything but so far I am very happy.
[QUOTE=story808;6328449]It looks real good and I'm glad you like them too. We just did a swap on a fatboy lo this week end 16 Gangsta's... DarknLo's bike...
Glad you are happy. Like anything there is an initial adjustment period. The first thing I noticed was that It was much easier to "steer" the bike. I agree that the mirrors have to be under the bars on apes that tall. The only way to fly.
