Fatcat's on softails thread
2) Breakin crap outa your motor ought to be worth the price of a quart of oil, right?
(you sounded real concerned about it).
Softail. Drain your oil, swap your filter.
Add a quart of new oil. Flashlight in the hole watch your return line.
Start your bike.
Watch the return line. Oil coming into tank is black, suddenly it turns clean.
Turn off bike, drain tank. Wasted one qt oil.
Sleep well tonight knowing you have your best performing pipes and the massive shrapnel out of your oil (that was in the filter anyway).

Both cylinders exiting out of the same pipe makes for quite a bit of difference in the sound. Took me some serious "getting used to".
I love the sound of my Fatcat now, but that first few days had me questioning my choice. It is different. Racier "performance" sound, but less traditional Harley sound. Like I said, took some getting used to - but I love it now. Big Bore Quiet Baffle (is the one mine came with).

I had also considered the thunderheader but have read a lot of heat issues as it doesn't have heat shields. I found one for about $500 and then a heat shield kit was another couple hundred or so.
As far as sound is concerned, there's no way a pipe with any kind of baffle is gonna be too loud for my taste. I also tried the BCT baffles and though they sound ok, not my taste in sound for a bike. I'm hoping to hear a couple this summer.
