Another thing to consider (while on the 'sound' subject): Displacement and cam choice has a large effect on sound. Stock vs higher compression is like night and day on some pipes.
Yea, it put a smile on my face when I took a test ride from my tuner. We had to replace the stock clutch spring with s.e. one; $20, it was slipping on the dyno runs. Now for some headwork, cant wait for that results! the first run on the left is bss torque/hp ,the next is the fatcat torque/hp. The last is a overlay of both. These are final tunes on each exhaust. Big gain in the 2-4000 rpm range with the fatcat, right where you feel it on acceration
Threw my Fatcat back on, takin it for a ride tomorrow. Lookin forward to my performance gain back. The Vance and Hines Comp. pipe sounded great with a low rumble but I lost some mid range. I wrapped it last night and put it on today the o2 sensors are in a much better place. My garage and my bike are dirty dirty. It's been a long winter....
Nothing Like the smell of wrapped pipes first thing in the morning..
Today I was getting on the freeway and took the turn a bit too sharp. I heard something scrape and figured it was my floorboard. Later when I was washing the bike I discovered the I scraped the hose clamp holding my wrap on and it was not doing anything.
I used hose clamps my first couple times wrapping them but this time I used the stainless zip ties. They will do the job if you use the silicone spray then cure them and then the wrap keeps it shape. I noticed the bottom of my muffler is scraped pretty good, the bolt that holds the baffle in is 1/2 gone.
