ok so here is the deal ... I am getting the bike ready to do a frame swap to a paughco rigid for my twin cam "B" motor ..
ok so here is the problem .. I took out the turn signal canceller and re wired the starter kill so that the bike will start ... I also got rid of the turn signals ... the bike will start and idle up and then shuts off ... it will run for a few seconds and then just die ... I am thinking something happened to the computer but I am hoping not ...
I have signal to the injectors
I have power and ground to the ECM
the fuel pump is priming and coming on while the bike is running for that short period .
I have spark cause the bike is starting ...
ok I have narrowed it down to the relearn for the ecm ... I dont have the security light on my bike now that the turn signal canceller is gone .... can this be relearned or am I going to have to find a aftermarket ECM
?signal canceller = tsm?...according to the manual the tsm controls the turn signals and serves as bank angle sensor...so if not connected maybe the ecm shuts the bike down thinking the bike went over the max angle?...could you connect the tsm just to test?
also the password learning is need when the ecm or tsm/hfsm (tsw with hands-free security) is replaced...
it would really suck if I had to keep that thing just for that purpose ... the tsm only has one wire that runs in with the ecm and that wire ties into the diagnostic port ... I will hook it up and see what happens ... stupid me for buying a efi bike ...
there's a kit to convert efi to carb, but couldn't find the site....if the tsm is the problem then it ain't got nothing to do with efi?...good luck, eventually you'll figure it out...
ok so got it figured out ... I made a plug for the 4 wires for the tsm and did the relearn .. bike fired right up ... then unplugged the tsm and fired it up again ... works perfect ... just need to keep the tsm module incase I ever unplug the ecm ... .. thanks guys ..
