I need some help here. It seems my '09 Heritage is using oil. I am estimating about a quart per 1000 miles right now, and am doing a mileage test to verify.
Are you all finding your scooters using oil, and if so, how much? I want to see if this is normal. I know they have a bulletin out that says as musch as a quart per 1000 miles is normal, but I want to see what experience others are having with the 96 cubic inch engine.
Mine is an '09 Heritage with the SE air kit, long shots, and Pro Super tuner.
Definitely seems high. My 06 FXST with 31K miles on it doesnt even use a quart between 5K mile oil service/maintenance. 3k miles to Sturgis and back last year and I didnt need to top it off even once.
Are you leaking it or burning it? Do you see lots of blue smoke? When youre pulling a hill, ask your buddy behind you he if sees blue smoke.
Mine has used a quart every 2500 miles since day 1 on the Dyna. However it doe not leak nor do I see smoke from the pipes. I change the oil ever 2500 also. I have 15K miles now. I was told it was normal. I do not ride hard but do 95% city riding. I think it is tougher on my drivetrain.
I find it hard to believe it would be normal considering the intervals of recommended by harley you would be out of oil before you would be due for a change.
