Hd will say thats normal.. in here we'll say it not.
as above said, make sure U don't over fill to begin with.
and go from there..
alway check it the same way..... I only fill mine up to 1/2 on the dipstick, not all the way to the top.....She use maybe 4-8ozs in 5k miles...

Thanks for all the replies. I have been checking mine on the stand in the garage when it is hot. I filled it up exactly to the full mark while hot. I have been about 350 miles since then, and it has now only dropped about 3/16 on the stick. I am using regular HD oil, and not the synthetic. They want me to ride for a full 1000, then see where it is on the stick. I see absolutely no smoke anytime, and will hopefully be able to get the plugs out to check them soon. I'm no mechanic, but I think I can handle that.

Wow, I have 3400 miles on my 10 'Deluxe stage 1 w/samson true duals. I was worried about burning too much oil. Since my 1k oil change (950 mi) I've used about 4-5 oz.to top off. My old Sportster never used any oil between changes.I guess I worry to much.
