Seems like I remember hearing that the 2007 models electrical system was different??

I've installed the Fuelpak. Do I ned to do anything because of that?

No, the fuel pack is an add-on device like a PC. The above only comes into play when flashing the ECM programing.

The dealer cant set the speedo. That has to be set at the time of order from the factory. I know this because i ordered an analog tach/speedo combo and didnt have it set at time of order...dealer cant do it. Id have to send it back to be reset. I decided to just keep track of milage on paper in my harley file

Did you know that your ECM will contain your true actual mileage? I believe your dealer can access it from the digital technician but you are correct. The dealer can't change the or set the speedo mileage. Only MoCo.

I just installed this speedo yesterday, and came across your post this AM.

I am using a TTS. What is the ASSY fuse, is it the main fuse? And why do I need to pull it? Seems like the bike and speedo are running fine. Thanks for any clarification.

This new speedo has the reserve fuel mileage measurement data field. It continues to ask the ECM for updates (in easy terms). The ASSY fuse is the accessory fuse located on the fuse block and named "ASSY". It is not the main fuse. It will be a 15 amp fuse and only one of the places the speedo gets power. If you pull the main fuse you will not be able to power the ECM for flashing.

If you don't release the speedo from the ECM when you try to flash you will get ERROR.50; UNABLE TO CONTROL J1850 BUS.

You will be able to do data runs or check for codes but you will not be able to flash. It will stop at 15% with the above error.

Same goes for any aftermarket digital gauge on a HD. They must be disconnected or power removed before they will release the ECM.

Any of this only comes into play when you are using your TTS or SEST tuner.

Thanks for the clarification. I checked the fuses and realized which fuse you meant and pulled it. The speedo light immediately went out. I left out the fuse for about a minute. Turned the ignition switch off, waited a little then turned it back then put the fuse back in. Is this sufficient to release the ECM?

By the way, do you have any idea if the backlighting can be dimmed on this unit?

Thanks again!

Yes, this will be sufficient to release the ECM during tune flashing.

The red hue is very bright isn't it. I do know a few guys that have put 3/4 moon or a full moon gray tint on the glass, what translucency or tint # was used I don't know. Since this is a new unit available this year I'm not sure if a voltage resistor insertion would be a good idea on the LED circuit. Maybe someone else could make a suggestion.
