Yeah, I had my Garage Leathers one on there with zip ties and it held it on there just fine. It did end up stretching out the leather a little bit though so I decided I wanted to hard mount this one after I saw how much heavier it is. The leather is seriously thick.
Mother, I don't know about your kit but I hard mounted mine myself and went from the backside into the bag with the bolt and have the nut inside the bag, Can you just turn the bolt around?
No room to do that as this doesn't actually go into the bag, but into the plate that the bag mounts against. It just needs to be shorter by 1/4" to 1/2", but I think I'll go shorter than that just so the bag can fit tighter to the swingarm.
Here's a pic from underneath. It may never touch or be an issue, but it's pretty close...
I'm thinking they have it so far out so it clears the axle nut if you decide you want to mount it back that far. I've got mine in front of the axle nut though so I just need shorter studs and I can bring it in a bit more and make sure there's clearance on the inside and I'll be good to go. The included enough different spacers that I should have a combo there that will work.
Also, I'm pretty sure at some point Harley's design has changed because their instructions said to put a nut on the backside of that lower mount and mine has a threaded insert in the belt guard so I don't need a nut there. That could explain some of the issues also.

So your bag is only anchored to the steel plate by the two other bolts? Just flip the bolt and drill another hole in the bag. Acorn nuts on the inside by the way and no knuckle busters.
