I thought the earlier models if you had one then you had the other, but when ABS became standard (2013 or 2014) then it became a stand alone option.
Security System is an option. New bikes come with ABS, but no Security System. Some dealers will add them as a selling feature, but you pay for it in the end.
"Generally" only the dealer can remove the Security System due to reprogramming and theft.
If the bike has security, you either need a fob or the input of a code into Speedo.
i love the fact that if my fob isn't near the bike, then it's not starting, but if you're out on the road and battery in the fob goes bad, then you better be close enough to a drug store to get one. i got two miles from my house, stopped for a minute then it wouldn't start. lucky enough i was only a couple hundred feet from a store.

That is why you have a security code to input. If the fob battery dies, input your security code and off you go!
I bet a dealer could track down that security code for ya one way or another. Prolly only cost ya a few hundred bucks if you ask nice like.
Definitely worth seeing if they would reset it for you so you can set a custom one. Most people never bother setting it and the dealers will set them to "12345" or "11111" so your bike could be vulnerable.
