I think if they mounted any farther forward your passenger wouldn't be able to get to their pegs as well. I just kind of take the gap as it is what it is. To me its worth it to have a full out bagger when I want, and removing three bolts per side gives me a Fatboy again. Best of both worlds really.

... Never can be actually finished with a Harley, but definitely happy for now.

Really liked the yellow ... but, the new black look you're sporting takes some of the sting out of my loss ... LoL

Great job ... wish they made those bracket kits for Dynas ....

Thanks for posting, sweet bike! Just the pics I needed to see to make a decision on what bags to upgrade to for more storage space.

Kuma, the bags stick out 5/8" past the rear fender. It was just enough to make me scrub the idea of drilling the fender and going with the bullet style signal lights that are on the Street Glides. But to be truthful, they'd probably still fit, but it would be tight.

I'm using the same Cycle Vision Bagger Tails brackets that TCannon22 is using. Dr. V-Twin is the person to talk to about purchasing them if you decide to go this route. You shouldn't have any problem with the pipes you're running now, I've got plenty of room running V&H's Big Shots Staggereds. As for storage, there's plenty of room. What they lack in height, they more than make up for in length.
I'm resizing some pictures to post in my album, which will have a shot from the rear.

Sorry about hijacking your post TCannon.

Do you ride 2up? Tcannon has a good point about the passenger being able reach the footpegs.

I appreciate your and TC's help. Just want to understand what the final results will be and what is required.

Yes, I ride two up, but not on a regular basis. There's approximately 2 1/2" from the front of the bag to centerline of the passenger peg.

One more pic from the exhaust side taken with a real camera instead of the I phone. Hopefully the detail will show up a little better.

I'm hoping Dr. V-twin will send me some commission on the possible sales!!
The beauty of this set up is that it is still a Fatboy. I can literally spend 20 minutes, pull out the two bolts on each side of the struts and take off the two nuts behind the passenger footpegs, remove the unit as a whole, and be on a fatboy. 20 minutes later, I'm on a bagger again. I love the dressers and the road kings, but take those bags off and it ain't pretty. Like I said above, you really get the best of both worlds.
Honestly, I wasn't a giant fan of the yellow either, but it was a good temporary solution to stay on the road while I was getting the issues sorted out on these tins.
