Thanks for all the compliments.. I can't wait to get this thing out to the Bikes, Blues, and BBQ rally this week and get some more input. I really wish the pictures showed how those gloss black stripes will be invisible one second, then stand out like crazy the next.

I love this! I think I may start putting together some parts for mine. With hard bags though. Maybe even dropped bags.

It was definitely an easy mod to do.. Cycle Vision's bagger tail and some touring bags and about 20 minutes of my time. I really thought about going with the hard bags and if I ever put a fairing on it I may go that way, but the Road King custom bags just fit with the look of the fatboy better.

Turned out nice! If another type of mounting system was used, could the bags be mounted forward an inch or two more? Closer to the seat? Also, how tall are those bags?

I believe that they are mounted that distance away from the seat to clear any exhuast systems and the swingarm, and related components. Thats what they make the filler panels for and/or the bagger tail fender.

I think I'm going make me a set of bagger mounts at work. That would save me $300. Find a set of dropped bags and slap em on!

With the stock Fatboy seat, the bags are 3/8" (+/-) from the back of the seat. There's no way, short of modifying the Baggertails, to get them any closer. Not sure if Sumax's system mounts them any closer.

Mine are 12.5" tall. They clear the exhaust by an inch and a half.

If they mounted any closer, you wouldn't be able to open the bag lids all the way. Otherwise you could mount them a whole lot closer to the bike.

Believe me, once they're on, they grow on you.

And thanks TCannon22 for pushing me over the edge to do the same. Don't worry, I won't be painting mine black.

Thanks for the answers. I asked Tcanon because in his pics it looks like an inch or more exists between the bags and seat. You did not have any pics posted - thank you for posting. Have any showing how far they stick past the rear fender? Any full bike pics with bags? From the rear? Looked at your home page - not on facebook though. How are your bags mounted?

Taller bags would be better, for me. The 2n1 sits lower then when I had bss.

Thanks for your time. Very interested in this. Want some larger bags, prefer leather, and this could be the 3rd bag change. lol
