2003 Anniversary Heritage Softail. The front top of the windshield seems to have a thin film peeling off. It's visible and you can feel a slight edge with your finger but nothing to grab.
Anyone else experience this?
Is there anything to do other than buy a new windshield?
It's called crazing. Got the term from an old harley indy mechanic so I tend to believe it. Most windshields will do it after time unless they're kept out of the elements but then you wouldn't get to ride. Replacements are not that expensive, several available for around $100.
my oem hd one did the same thing. its the film that gives it the smoked affect. replaced mine with a memphis shades. they have oem replacements. they call them solar. perfect fit/finish. re-used the stock brackets. ****-can the double sided tape....pain in the ***. steve
My 06 Heritage Windshield was doing the same, some one said using cleaner
with amonia is what causes this, show I replaced the windshield and changed
to cleaners with out amonia.
The film is some UV coating or something that prevents yellowing and mine is peeling very slightly in some areas and you see a little bald spot where it is gone. I switched to Plexus which is a protectant and a polish.
