Can someone give me an HD part number for the SERT? I can't find it on the HD web site or my parts cataloge. Any reccomendations on where to buy it, other than a local dealer or Zanottis.

Can the SERT be installed at home, or do I have to get a dealer to do it?

thanks,

Still trying to decide between a SERT and a PCIII.

The PC you can do at home with no extra dyno time, the SERT you would need some hours of dyno tuning to get it right. (from what I have heard)
If you order a PCIII from this place they will set it up for your bike, all you have to do is take off the seat and plug it in. fuelmotousa.com

The SERT for my bike 2002 FLSTFI, is part # 32107-01C. That part # may or may not have changed.

With that said, the SERT is not for everyone. You do not have to go to a dyno if you run moderate mods. Canned maps are available. The SERT can also be used in a data collection mode (see picture) , here is one of my runs with the PC laptop strapped to the bike. Ocean of data to play with, I like playing with the fuel tables.

The PCIIIr is a decent alteration if you just want to get it somewhere in the ballpark. The SERT will put it on homeplate.

I think I paid ~$269 for the PCIIIr, and ~$369 for the SERT at Benji's HD (20% discount)

I'm new to this so please bear with me if my terminology is wrong. I'm looking at buying an '07 Heritage Classic and will probably look at replacing the stock pipes when they become available. I originally thought that I would have the dealer install new pipes but comments written on this forum worry me since it seems like some dealers are incompetent and don't make the necessary adjustments. Is this typical? If it is I would probably install them myself and get a PCIII or Fuelpak. I noticed that the PCIII is available for the '07's. Does installing your own pipes and a PCIII have any impact on the warranty?

Denny,
Make sure u break in ure bike with stock pipes and AC. If u dont u will most likely get brown pipes--a lesson learned the hard way. The 07s are running hotter.

Enzo,

I don't understand.

1. If you put in a bigger AC and SERT wouldn't the engine run cooler and eliminate the discoloration
2. If that's not the case why wouldn't new pipes turn brown after the break in? Does the bike run cooler after the break in?

Thanks,

Denny

I'm glad I found this thread so now I know to buy a PC and not a Fuelpak. My V&H drag pipes were almost $700, I don't want them to discolor.

According to my HD service dept. ANY mod to the the engine technically voids the warranty but they have discretion. Ask the serv. dept. where you bought the bike what you can and can't do.

Is there any advantage to installing the race tuner when I purchase the bike even if I'm not going to change the pipes for a while.

Replacing the AC filter and Exhaust will give you around 8-10 HP without tuning. Tuning or Dyno will smooth out the AFR and be able to pick up another 1 -2 HP. It's better to tune or dyno your bike so as not to lean or richen the AFR. I installed my V&H big shot stag with quiet baffle and SE AC filter (SERT on hand), went to the dealer to get it dyno tune. Baseline dyno = 68HP; 71TQ After dyno tune = 69HP, 72TQ. So if you know how to tune your bike without the dyno, you can save alot of $ wheither it PC III or SERT.
