Default Oil Temp
Is it ok that my oil temp has been running at about 210 degrees? I've got a 2007 softail standard.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Thats fine , if it gets over 250 will will have to shut it down and let it cool down , it should only get that hot in bad traffic though

you are better to ask than not and find out too late , could be very costly

Before my fuel management system and a good tune my Sporty and my Fatboy used to run around 250 all summer, a couple of times in traffic my Fatboy hit 280 oil temp and the heat management system kiked in to shut down a cylinder. Now it runs about 210 -220 most of the time

Mine runs about 240-250 in the summer months. Prior to the Stage 1 it was even hotter. I've been to 300 quite a few times stuck in traffic or in a funeral escort.

None of these post mean much without posting the outside air temperature and the type of ride and speed. I can ride to work one up the same 10 miles of city (4 miles) (35)/ interstate (6 miles) (60) and mine is 160 on a 40 degree day. Seen it 220 on a 95 degree day. My temperature reading is a Harley dip stick one. Were are the bikes with a gauge getting their reading??

"Summer Months" here mean anything from 105 to 120F. 240-250 is what the reading is when I stop from normal riding speeds. Temp is taken off the dipstick gauge. Funeral speeds are 25 for around 30 minutes, stop and go means 0-5mph. When I'm done for the day the thighs are medium rare using a steak cooking guidance sheet.
