Good Day, Good Ride, Bad Starter
I made the cruise from the beach up to Big Bear Lake for the Big Bear Choppers, Ride the Mountain festival yesterday. Started by riding from my place in San Clemente to my buddy's place in Dana Point and of course shut off my bike. Never had a hint of issues before and out of the blue, my bike's starter gave up the ghost right as we were leaving. After checking all the related fuses and relays and getting nowhere, I gave the solenoid end of the starter a bonk with a rubber mallet and lo and behold, the starter works...2 times. I wanted to make sure it would continue to function so I shut the bike off and started it again and shut it off one last time. And that was that. I decided to throw caution to the wind and rode anyway but I spent every stop we made doing the push, jump on, and bump start.
Does anybody know if a supplier exists for a rebuild kit or should I ask my bank account nicely for my money to buy a starter?
