Default warranty question

i know it's not about a softail but i've got a question. my buddy bought a new 09 sporters off the showroom floor and it's due for it's 1000 mile service. the dealership wants almost $300 to do it. i told him i would do it from him for a whole heck of a lot less. but my questions is this isn't going to void his warranty if i do the service is it? and is there anything i need to do for the warranty? i do all my own services on my night train and a few other peoples bikes but none of them are under warranty.

I switched to synthetic at 5000. I do my own service and log it in the owners manual. I think if you log it, the warranty is good.

Just keep the receipts for the parts, filters, oil and keep a log including milage and date of service

Just did my 1000K service. The dealer wanted $300.00. He ( service guy) told me to do it myself and I did. I went synthetic in all 3 holes and the cost was $67.00 for everything. Very easy job to do. The service guy told me to stop by one day and they would adjust the clutch for free also as it is only a 5 minute job. He told me to keep all receipts and the warranty will still be good. Make sure you wipe the magnetic drain plugs off as there is alot of crap on them after the first 1000 and buy yourself a few replacement O rings also.
Now go grab some tools and have fun.

it wont void the warranty but i would have the dealer do the fist one as they are to check over all the bolts and adjust clutch and cables and if they find a defect they will fix it. it is the same if you buy a used bike. let the dealer check it over.

most dealership charge you. they aren't going to give you anything free if they don't have to.
