I rode my new 07 heritage home today, Even slight aggresive riding causes a scrape.
I'm thinking it may be the stock factory preload setting which is light. ??? maybe.. I dunno.. may be silly but I thought I read it's set at the lightest setting from the factory. I do notice a good dip into the shock when I get it into a corner. Might just be an adjustment?
And it wouldn't surprise me that the dealers never tell the new owner it can be adjusted.. They'd rather just sell them $500 shocks later to correct it after the familiar OEM shock squeak appears. That's another thing the old bike did NOT do with the aftermarkets.. All the new softails I've seen with more than a couple thousand miles will creak and squeak in the rear end when you sit on them.

I fixed my squeak with a little shot of WD-40
Quiet as a mouse now.
Sorry not to deviate from the scraping boards topic.. just a sidenote:
