Hey guys,
Ive been looking to take my exhaust in a different direction and I really like the look of the Hooker Troublemaker Darksides, however, I cant find anyone that has them on their own bike, heck, I havent even seen any pictures other than the ones on the Holley site. I think the black ceramic coating will look great on my nightrain, but I would really like to hear from anyone that has the Troublemakers, Darksides or otherwise, as to how they sound. Also do you have to relocate the passenger footpegs?
I have a set of chrome Hooker Troublemakers on my Softail and I love "em. I would say the quality of V&H's is a little better, cause the first set I had to return because it had a few nicks in the chrome, but the second set was ok. I liked them because of the ceramic coating inside and the steped headder design which being a car guy I know its better for heat transfer and power, and I liked that they didnt come down as far as the Big Radius pipes. They fit great with the passanger pegs(no problems there) and the sound is awesome. I think they have a deeper sound than the V&H's and there 3 diferent baffles you can get for them or run without, I'm running the stock baffles and there nice and deep and loud without being toooo loud. Heres a couple pictures of them on my 2001 Softail...
I'm really glad to see some feedback on these myself. I'm also smitten with the black pipes for an '07 Night Train, but I prefer the Rebels to the Troublemakers. I wonder when the '07 version will be available?
The Bikers Choice catalog online has the Hookers, I looked up the part # and emailed Brad over at http://www.partsthatfithd.com/ (just look for caontact info on the site), he was able to get them for $469 shipped, this was over the winter. I didnt see any of the new Darkside in the Bikers Choice catalog yet. Heres a picture that I blacked out in photoshop...
Thanks for the pictures! Great looking bike, btw. I really like the look, still cant decide on the scallop cut vs. the slash cut, does anyone know if the sound gets muffled quite a bit on the slash cuts because it is pounding into the pavement without the side (scallop) cut? I like the clean look of the slash, but I also like those straight ones as well, you can get the chrome tips for those, which look pretty sweet if you ask me. I think Im going to have to get these soon... i dont know if I can take it much longer.... gotta get rid of the chrome!!
PS was at the HD dealer this past weekend, they had no word on the new 07 exhausts yet.... good luck in finding some, or better yet, get a great deal on an 06....
Thanks,
I really dont think you'd notice any difference, sound wize, between slash cut and scallop, I have the scallop and the air still shoots straight out to the ground. I think its more a mater of taste, go for the look you like best. Yeah I'd love to do some things blacked out like the photoshop picture, makes it look more sinister!!!!! Good luck.
