LED Fuel gauge problem & solution
Well This is a 2002 FXST Carburated, only 3 wires to use orange and black to the under tank plug (power and ground) then yellow/white to the sender. Seemed easy enough... Well even though you had grounded it with the black wire to the 2 pin connector, you still have to unscrew the pigtail black wire with the bullet connector from the old fuel gauge and hook it back to where it grounds out to the sending unit. This thing must be insulated from the tank and has no ground unless you hook up that wire.
So if you have a LED Fuel gauge and can't figure out why it won't work, make sure you hook up the ground to the sending unit as well.
Not sure if this is a well known solution or problem, but hopefully it will save anybody from pulling their hair out in the future. Only took me about 2 minutes to figure out so I still have all my hair
