Oil pressure loss?

I installed an oil pressure gauge, and having been distracted, I forgot to tighten it. Blew about a quart of hot oil on my legs and pipes. Tightened it back down and limped it to the house about 5 mi.'s away a quart shy. Didn't blow the gauge off, just leaked around the threads. Before, my oil pressure read 40psi at start up and around 30psi at idle. Now it reads 30psi at start up and 20 psi at idle. Have I screwed my oil pump up?

Your oil pressure looks good. You will likely see the pressure at idle lower than that when its hot.

It's doing that because it's now at operating temp. When it's cold it has higher pressure. Don't worry, you're fine.

I've never seen pressure that high, but I think my Arlen Ness gauge reads 10 psi low. It shows 0 psi at hot idle...

Went to another town nearby to pick up some tools. Checked gauge and it was showing 20psi high and 8psi low. The it went back up to 30psi high and 20psi low. WTF?
