Default oil pressure

I just got a new 2010 street glide and I have noticed when I am at idol my oil pressure is 0 but it increases to 32 when I take off. I am still learning so bare with me.. Is this normal or do I have a problem?

Hot, it is really about 5-7 lbs and a little under 32 on the gauge when cruising. Past discussions indicate that this is normal.

Don't worry unless your gauge fogs up with moisture. (Justr kidding).
It just looks like you have zero oil pressure. But the oil pressure at idle is very low...
so the key is to NOT IDLE!!!! LOL
Your bike is normal.

on a previous tread this issue was discussed. i brought up the issue of clearances affecting automobile oil pressure. however some one with more experience than i said that volume of flow was what was important in the harley engine.

HD engines use roller bearings at the rear of the cams and for the crank that will not maintain pressure like plain bearing in auto engines. Volume is important to keep everything bathed in oil.

Thanks for the input everyone.. I have had the bike a few weeks and maybe i just havent noticed the low oil pressure while at idle.. I was just worried I may have had a problem.. Its running a little less than 32 when I'm cruising so I guess everything is normal..
