Default What year is this Fatboy?

What year is this? It was listed as a 1990, with 8450 original miles, but in doing some research am I right in thinking that all 1990 Fatboys were silver? If it is a 1990(or not) I know it is hard to tell from this attached pitcture, but what do is a ballpark price for a bike like this?

It was listed in a local classified add, I guess I could contact the lister and have him provide the VIN, but thought this would be faster, and I would also get an idea of the value of the bike.

He has to have a title with the proper year....No sense in listing a wrong year in the ad.

A 1990....$5000-7000K

Thumbs up

from what it looks like, it is NOT a 1990 Fatboy.
If it ever was a 1990, it sure stopped looking like one. As u said, 1990 fatboys where grey.. hence the nickname "Grey Ghost", it also had some yellow striping on the engine rocker box.

check the last two posts here

it has bolt ons, but the original had little chrome, just the engine parts and the front for where chromed, oil tank was painted gray as well

Default A final word about this

Posting a reply here for reference only. This is an older thread, but just in case someone is looking this answer up for reference...
The bike pictured is most definitely NOT a 'first year' 1990 Fatboy. While it is true that you can change and update many things about a Harley, I doubt anyone would have taken the 'factory painted' matching frame (which would have been gray) and repainted it black (like every other softail) and then reinstalled all the ID plates as shown in the original posted photo.
Other 1990-only features of the first Fatboys are: Color-matched frame (as mentioned above), color-matched oil tank (someone else also posted that one), color-matched rear fender supports, and of course the seven yellow rings strategically placed across the bike-the genesis of many urban lengends (about WWII and atomic bombs).
I saw and rode a 1990 Fatboy in 1992 and absolutely loved it. By 1994 I had found a used one in a barn in SD (covered in dust!) and bought it with my brother's money (he was overseas at the time). I got to pamper and ride it for 2 years until his return in 1996 and he has had it ever since. It is just like a member of his family now.
Feel free to PM me any questions re 1990 Fatboys, I have researched quite a lot about them. I still get to ride this one several time a year, most recently along the entire Blue Ridge Pkwy in 2010. The 90 Fatboy always draws a crowd and people 'trip' over my bike to get a better look at this one! Hmmm, so much for new stuff.
