Headlamp retaining pin installed correctly?
2008 Fatboy, purchased new, no modifications except additional lamps and re-mounting turn signals, all done by dealer. I am only getting one season on a new headlamp bulb. Installed high output headlamp - P/N 87074-01 in May 2010 (10,700 miles) and now in August of same year (15,784 Miles) the low beam is out, same as in May. I am sure the bulb was not touched prior to installation. So I thought, I may have the retaining pin installed incorrectly, increasing vibration or etc. Dealer says - "Yeah....you should get more than a season out of it". Side issue is that I have an intermittent short in the tail light which blows a couple fuses a season and will not stay shorted long enough to diagnose. No other issues. Anybody else seeing this?

Try another brand headlight. I was only getting a few months out of the Sylvania Silverstar headlights. I got an off brand from Ebay and have been running it for nearly 3 years now without an issue. Obviously when you install never touch the glass of the headlight. Hold it by the base. Some people wear rubber gloves to do this just in case.
