Default Fat Boy Lo Survey

I'm thinking about buying a Fat Boy Lo in a couple of months. I like the looks and fit of the bike. I would really like to hear from you guys that have them, especially the ones that have clocked some big miles.

I want to hear the good the bad and the ugly about this bike. I've had a sportster, and now a dyna. I'm all ears.... TIA

Well it's obviously not HD's idea of a touring bike. You would be making it your own by setting it up for long haulin.

I have an 09 Fatboy not a low but I lowered 2" which is more than a Lo and I put on the seat off of a Lo. Most notably for long distance the only thing you will need to change would be the bars. Drags are not that great for long distance strains the neck and shoulders. Other than that you will be good to go. You can always add detach bags. I love my Fatboy.

I bought mine just a bit over a year ago. It's got about 10k on it now. I'm on my 2nd set of tires. I've changed quite a bit on the bike as far as looks go and recently tore into the motor for a big bore, head work and all of the Woods set up (cams, springs, lifters, rockers..etc). We just got back from a California trip. We trailered out there and back but we rode over 1200 miles in 6 days (San Diego to San Francisco and back w/some canyon runs thrown in). The bike will treat you like any other Harley as far a reliability goes. Now as far as comfort....some dig it in stock form but others need to change it. Like I did, seat, bars...etc. I'm actually on my 2nd set of apes. First set was 14's now I'm running the 16" Carlini Gangster Apes and High Roller risers. With a LePara Bare Bones seat it's perfect for me now. Get the bike..you'll love it, but be prepared to make changes so it'll fit your needs and tastes. I haven't ran across a Harley yet that doesn't need a change somewhere to make it perfect. Good luck!

I ride mine back and forth to work (50 miles) almost everyday as well as longer rides on the weekends. I have 12" Fat Mini-apes and the stock seat and it is awesome for me. I recently added a touring pillion and a backrest for my wife and she loves it. If it fits your style it's worth the $$.

I've had mine 4 months and it's got 4000 miles on it now. I've also got a Deluxe and I can honestly say that I like the Lo better. I'm only 5'4" and the 1 extra inch is perfect for me. I do agree that you need to change the bars. They sucked. I put some Wild1Chubby's on that had a 14.5" pullback and now I'm good to go as far as the road will take me. I may get a second seat with a backrest if I do many really long rides, but that would be true for any Harley. Long rides aren't a problem at all with the new bars on there. I highly recommend the bike. You can do anything to the bike you need, just like any other Harley. So buy it, change the bars, and see what you like and don't like. You won't regret it.

+1 on changing the bars...

I am a weekend rider, and have about 50/50 1up/2up... Wife loves the ride... Shoulder/arms do get tired after about 30-45 mins... especially if riding into a headwind...

I am planning dragbars w/rise/pullback this winter (hint hint Santa).
