Default scraping footboards on lowered fatboy

OK , new to me lowered fatboy,,everytime I turn a corner/curve a little sharp it grinds the footboards..
I know the obvious answer, "dont lean as much"
Is it easy the raise the bike up a little ??
I cant change my riding style ..too old now ..

Your bike must be pretty low. What kind of lowering system do you have and is it adjustable?

I'm dropping mine down an inch with Deluxe shocks but I don't anticipate much of a problem with cornering. My wife has a Deluxe and she rarely scrapes her boards.

Just keep grinding, your making more room to lean in each scrape.

You can adjust the bolts on the shocks. That should do it.

If you lean your body into the turn the bike doesn't have to lean as much. It doesn't take much of change in your posture as you enter and go through the turn to make a significant difference in the angle the bike wants to take through the turn.

Your options are to adjust the shocks (very easy), use lower speeds in turns to reduce lean angle (not always possible), or to use body english to lean the bike less.

Directions are in owners manual and better/more details directions in repair manual.

Don't worry about thinking you are too old to change your riding style. If the scraping bothers you, consciously or unconsciously, you will adjust your riding style to limit the amount of scraping you do. The change will happen naturally.

Check and make sure your boards fold up easily for safety.
My XB is lowered and I grind them all the time, still gets my attention....
Do it at night, it makes cool looking sparks!!

Floorboards are first, crank case is next! I found that I had a few scrapes on the bottom rear of my crank case, which could really be a problem should you grind too deep or hit a bump while dragging.

Definitely watch how much you are scraping, and do whatever it takes to ease the scenario - either adjust your style or your bike's posture... these aren't rice racers, so they take some adjustments in the twisties.
