Default true dual burns

My 06 Softail Deluxe has aftermarket true dual exhaust. When I stop in traffic or at alight for very long my left leg gets hot and after taking off my pants will burn my leg. While washing the bike today I noticed discoloring on the heat shield. What can I do about this, short of putting the original exhaust back on?

Is the bike running hot or do you just have short legs that are too close to the pipes?

Does your bike have a tuner on it? Stock or aftermarket air filter? Factory download?

Heat wrap the rear cylinder pipe on the curve by the oil tank, this will stop you getting burned.

What I forgot to say is that I never got burned when I had those pipes on my ride. Of course my bike is a 2002 and had a power commander, but it was never an issue for me.

It should't get that hot to discolor the heat Shields, if it is then your running too hot or Idling to much, yeah it may warm your leg at a stop sign.

If you get the bike tuned properly it will not run that hot. I ran TD's for years without an issue on my legs or the heat shields. Tuner and a Dyno!

You might stop taking off your pants
